Living in Airport
The neighborhood itself consists of residential, commercial, and light industrial uses. You will find single family residences to the east of the neighborhood. As you can see from the map, this is really the only room available for housing. The houses are mostly modest single-family tract and ranch-style homes. You will only find the commercial zones along the major streets of the Airport Neighborhood.
The Airport neighborhood is home to one of the cities greatest historical landmarks. Airport Fire Station No. 5 is the new home to the sculpture “Tripod”. This sculpture originally was placed in City Hall located in Downtown Riverside. Tripod was moved to its now current location as a tribute to the 29 brave men and women of Riverside who assisted in the rescue efforts of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
“Tripod” was created by James Rosati who also sculpted “ideagram”. A stainless steel sculpture that was in the plaza of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
