History

The homes in Hawarden Hills were originally made on large lots used for citrus agriculture. With many of the neighborhoods in Riverside still reminding people of Riversides rich history. Hawarden Hills is still no exception to this and features many prominent City Landmarks.

For example, on 6499 Hawarden Drive sits the “Orchard House“. A Tudor Revival style house constructed from 1917-1920 for citrus grower and prominent attorney William G. Irving. The Orchard House was one of the four citrus grove mansions built for Gage and Irving familes. You can find complete City Landmark details by clicking here.

Living in Hawarden Hills

Today, the Hawarden Hills neighborhood is developed primarily with single-family residences on mid-sized and estate lots, but also contains a small number of planned residential developments along Victoria Avenue. As you tour the streets of Hawarden Hills, you will follow the natural contour of the hilly terrain. This makes for winding roadways that give a level of interest that is not found in many other Riverside Neighborhoods.

With a large percentage of home owners, the median household income is reported around $130,000. In early 2017, the median sales prices for homes in the area are around $529,000. This makes Hawarden Hills a more expensive area of Riverside.
